Helping a startup become a $268 million gardening brand

I helped launch Bayer Advanced, which was owned by Bayer, to become one of the largest and fastest growing lawn and garden brands in the United States.

I started working on the brand long before there were products, a name and a headquarters. In the early days, we met in hotels across the country. I often presented my strategic plans to Bayer executives in Starbucks.

I created the strategy and led the public relations, digital and social media components of the brand.

I worked on the Bayer Advanced brand for more than 13 years. It became a $268 million brand by the time Bayer sold it.

Along the way we accomplished amazing things:

I helped lead Bayer Advanced All-in-One Rose & Flower Care and Bayer Advanced Tree & Shrub Protect & Feed to No. 1 market share. That meant taking on and beating the better–known and better–financed Scotts Miracle-Gro brand.

My team and I generated media coverage for the Bayer Advanced brand on ABC, NBC, FOX News, HGTV, NBC’s “Today,” The Wall Street Journal and in local media throughout the country. We generated thousands of stories a year about Bayer Advanced to compete with Scotts’ big budget ad campaigns.

I took a rose grown with Bayer Advanced products, put it on NASA’s final space shuttle mission, and featured it on one of our 13 Bayer Advanced Rose Parade floats. The media coverage was off the charts. ABC, NBC, HGTV and NBC’s Al Roker featured our rose in their broadcasts.

We planted hundreds of thousands of trees in national forests.

I helped grow a brand from nothing, overcame incredible obstacles, and created the foundation for a successful sale.

Imagine what I can do for you.
